About Us

Reilly Cycling Tours began with a chance meeting between Fintan Mc Cormac and Leonie Wall in the picturesque and enchanting village of Villard-Reculas, France, in 2003. Fintan was working as a bike guide for another cycling company at the time, and Leonie had come as a client on the trip. As they got to know each other and the village, they realized that they had stumbled across what is arguably the best cycling home base anywhere in the world. Ideally located on the backside of Alpe d'Huez mountain, Villard-Reculas is both a stunningly beautiful, relaxing home base to return to every evening, as well as a mecca of international cycling.

Frustrated by expensive, over-rated cycling trips that chased the race around by bus, they set out to create a new type of cycling experience. They would set up camp in one luxurious, centrally located chalet and ride out from there each day to the most exciting climbs made famous by the Tour. Due to their insistance on having an ever-present support van on all rides, this new type of cycling experience could appeal to all levels of cyclists, from novice to advanced.
A trip where superb food, wine, and accommodation were as important as the famous Cols they would navigate. A trip with an emphasis on personal attention, where the guides would have pre-ridden every climb and would therefore be able to offer detailed knowledge to put their guests at ease. A trip that would develop a level of friendship and camaraderie that would see our clients return year after year. In other words, a trip for cyclists operated by cyclists.
They enlisted the help of David Weiss, Fintan's brother-in-law, to create an affordable trip, and yet of a standard not seen in the industry. As news of this new company began to spread, Michael Weiss and Robin Beckerman offered their assistance, and were soon welcome members of the close-knit team.
